Fish sculptures at the Denison Canal
As well as a short cut to Hobart for small craft, this canal cuts off the Tasman Peninsula off from the rest of Tasmania, making it difficult for wildlife to get across. This allows careful isolation of key Tasmanian Devil populations, in order to weed out Devil Facial Tumor Disease, which is a contagious cancer that is threatening the animal.....orphans, seperated from parents suffering from the Tasmanian Devil Facial Tumor Disease, which is a contagious cancer.
